Mazer’s Role
Mazer piloted this project from prototype to the final three-dimensional, full-color standing flipbook. For this full-service project, Mazer’s design department took an existing design vision and applied it throughout the program. The art department researched and tracked the photography and commissioned pieces of fine art, working closely with design to implement just the right imagery for each page.

American Heritage ® First Dictionary © 2006
Mazer’s Role
This dictionary was a coordinated effort with our internal Technology group to create XML tags. Mazer’s design team designed the book from cover to cover. Styles were assigned to text so that when it flowed into pages, it included the correct fonts, colors, and style attributes. The presentation was designed to appeal to children while simultaneously accommodating heavy text formatting.

Grades K–5
Mazer’s Role
For this project encompassing grades K through 5, Mazer designers conceptualized the initial covers, producing prototypes and revised versions. Our art department researched and acquired many of the images, which could then be extensively Photoshopped into fresh and original cover imagery. The design and art teams coordinated with the composition department to execute the final design.

Leveled Readers
Grade 5 reading program including student and teacher editions, consumable ancillaries, and leveled readers
Mazer’s Role
Mazer’s design and art departments collaborated closely on this project to provide the client with top-notch design, photography, and illustrations, including technical illustrations (much of which was compleated). Each designer had a unique book to conceptualize and follow through and execute. This included thumbnails, a large amount of scanning, and Photoshop work. Mazer’s production department flowed the pages for each book. This project led to further leveled readers work for Macmillan/McGraw-Hill.
National Geographic/The JASON Project
Operation: Monster Storms
Web site and print editions for students and teachers, grades 5–8
Mazer’s Role
Mazer envisioned the design of this full-service project that included the development of Web and print programs. Many illustrations were produced by our internal illustrators; our art department commissioned, managed, and tracked much of the remaining art from outside illustrators. In-house designers executed all page layout and production. This included a Web content, 4-color student edition, 2-color teacher edition, transparencies, and other ancillary products for online distribution.
